For many of us Maundy Thursday, the day before Jesus is crucified, is summed up by Jesus instituting Communion and washing His disciples’ feet. While those things happened on that day, Jesus did and said far more than those two particular events. John spends over 3 chapters recording Jesus’ words which were spoken the night He was arrested. In those three chapters, Jesus speaks of many things, but a quick viewing will show that most of His words show love and concern for His immediate disciples and those of us who would believe in Him in the future. He prays over and over again that those who would be given faith in Him would be kept safe and remain faithful through the temptations they will face.
