I'm New Here

Finding a new church can be hard, and we want to help any way we can. If you are looking for a new church home, we thought you'd want to know what we are all about.

We believe God's mission for us is to be "Sharing, Caring, Growing in Christ." And how doing that we grow in LOVE toward God and neighbor. (Interested in becoming a Disciple of Jesus at SST? See below.)

In Christ

Even though it is at the end of our mission statement, the words "In Christ" encapsulates the starting point as our lives as Christians. Everything begins with our relationship with God, in Christ, as we grow, care, and share, loving our God by loving our neighbor.

Growing

We believe your journey of faith is one of constant growth. We learn more about God and our faith as we study God's truth given to us in the Bible. God loves us too much to be done developing us into the disciples He wants us to be, and so we continue to seek to grow in what it means to be His followers.

Caring

A Christian life is one of caring for each other. We share the love and joy we receive from God by caring for them. Jesus first showed that care for us by his death on the cross and the forgiveness he delivers. We, then, get to live that our in our lives by caring and serving our neighbors.

Sharing

What an opportunity God gives us, to share the good news of what Jesus has done for us. Now, more than ever, this world needs to hear the message of a God who loves them, who died for them, who hears their prayers, and who promises to be with them always. As His disciples, we get to be the ones to share that message of hope, love, and peace.

Next Steps?

We have recently taken steps to streamline the process for officially joining the church, depending on your church background.

If you are simply transferring from a sister Missouri Synod church, we ask that you participate in a New Disciple Luncheon. On that day, we review some primary teachings of our church body, as well as share about our local history and go over our polity (the way we make important decisions at the church). You also have opportunity to meet and greet with the Elders and other leadership, while sharing a meal.

If you are coming from a Christian background, but have been part of a different denomination, we offer a class called “Lutheranism 101” (held over two evenings) that teach you the basics of what it means to be a Lutheran. This class is the prerequisite to attending the New Disciple Luncheon.

Our upcoming classes are as follows:

  • Sunday, April 28, 1pm-3pm - Lutheranism 101 (session 1)

  • Monday, May 6, 6pm-8pm - Lutheranism 101 (session 2)

  • Saturday, May 11, 9:30-1pm – New Disciple Luncheon

Then, you (and any family members joining with you) would be “received as New Disciples” (or “members,” though, we don’t really use that terminology very much) that same weekend as the luncheon, at which ever service you normally worship at.

We offer childcare (provided at no cost) at the classes and Luncheon.

If you are interested in attending Lutheranism 101, and/or the New Disciple Luncheon, or if you have any questions or concerns, you can contact Pastor Dan Bodin.

Joining the church also includes a little bit of paperwork. Here are two fillable-forms to help get the process started.

Getting Connected

South Shore Trinity encourages every disciple of Jesus to find ways to plug in to the ministry that best fit your own talents and interests. One effective way to do that is with our Connection Guide and its response form. They can be found on our “Getting Connected” page.
