Pastor Profile: John Grohs
Pastor John Grohs
Greetings in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Serving God’s people in His church has been a joy and privilege. Barb and I have been married for
40 years, and we have been blessed with 2 children and 9 grandchildren. All families currently live in the Twin Cities area, and it is always a highlight when they join us at SST for a Sunday.
After a short career as a DCE (Director of Christian Education) in Albert Lea, Minnesota, I served as a financial advisor for Ameriprise.
Then, in 1998, with our children in grade school, Barb and I went to Concordia Seminary, in Saint Louis, Missouri, for 2 years of studies in the colloquy program. After completing the colloquy program, I served as Pastor at New Creation Lutheran in Shakopee, Minnesota, for 7 years, and Immanuel Lutheran Church and School in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, for 11 years.
After my “retirement” in December of 2017, I have continued to serve as a vacancy Pastor at various churches in northern Minnesota; and, beginning in July of 2024, here at South Shore Trinity.
I love Jesus, my grandchildren's activities, and golf, and I always enjoy experiencing the annual highs and lows the Twins and Vikings have to offer.
I leave you with these words from Saint Paul in Ephesians 2:4-5:
But because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you, we, have been saved!
