As We Gather
October 11, 2020
What a blessing it is to be invited to celebrate momentous occasions in people’s lives—especially weddings. Simply being asked to attend communicates the value you hold in someone’s life. Whether you actually attend or not is another matter. But in the same way, God invites us to celebrate the momentous occasion of the wedding of his Son, Jesus, as he is united with his bride, the Church, forever. And we get a glimpse of what that heavenly reality is like in our Old Testament and Gospel readings for today. And we join in that wedding celebration, not just as a guest, but as Jesus’ beloved, ones forgiven in the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross for us, the ones he loves.
